getting started

How can I schedule an appointment?

We make it easy to get started—because your time and comfort matter:

  • Click the “Schedule Now” button at the top of this page to book online.

  • Fill out our Contact Form and we’ll respond within 1–2 business days.

payment & insurance

Do you accept insurance?

We are an out-of-network occupational therapy clinic, which means we don’t bill insurance directly. This model allows us to offer personalized, high-quality care without the limitations and restrictions imposed by insurance companies.

Here's why this works better for our clients:

  • You get one-on-one care tailored to your needs—not what insurance says is "medically necessary."

  • No surprise bills. No forced diagnoses just to get reimbursed.

  • More time with your therapist, and fewer visits in the long run thanks to our specialized approach.

We can provide a superbill with treatment codes if you want to submit for out-of-network reimbursement. Just check with your insurance provider beforehand to confirm what’s needed.

Note: We are unable to see clients who are currently on Medicare due to federal regulations.

Do you offer payment support or discounts?
Yes! We’re committed to making care accessible. We offer:

  • Sliding scale options for individuals experiencing financial hardship

  • Discounted rates for veterans, first responders, and teachers

Just let us know if you’d like to explore these options—we’re happy to help.

Do you accept HSA/FSA?
Absolutely! You can use your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) as well as debit/credit cards and cash.

How much do services cost?
Here’s our transparent pricing—no hidden fees, ever:

Women's Pelvic Floor Therapy

  • Initial Evaluation (60–90 mins): $175

  • Follow-Up Treatment/Birth Prep (60 mins): $125

Pediatric Pelvic Floor Therapy

referrals & reimbursements

Do I need a referral from a doctor?

No referral is required—North Carolina is a direct access state for occupational therapy, which means you can start care without jumping through hoops. That said, if you'd like, we’re happy to send information to your preferred provider for approval and collaboration. We love working as a team to support your healing.

If you plan to submit to insurance for out-of-network benefits, check to see if your plan requires a referral.

pelvic floor therapy 101 (adults)

How does pelvic floor therapy work?

Pelvic floor therapy isn’t just about muscles—it’s about your whole self. We combine bodywork, movement, education, breathwork, and mindfulness to address the root causes of your symptoms, not just manage them.

Your personalized treatment may include:

  • Posture, breath, and alignment work

  • Manual therapy and movement retraining

  • External and (if appropriate and with full consent) internal pelvic floor assessments

  • Nervous system regulation strategies

How long will therapy take?
Many folks begin to feel improvement within 3 sessions. Most complete their goals in 6–8 sessions, but everyone’s journey is different—we work with you to create a plan that feels right.

pediatric pelvic floor therapy

What age range of children do you work with?

We support children of all ages—from babies to teens.

Is pelvic floor therapy right for my child?
It might be if your child is experiencing:

  • Daytime or nighttime accidents

  • Constipation or difficulty pooping on the potty

  • Bedwetting

  • Withholding of bowel or bladder

  • Frequent stomach aches

  • Or any combo of the above

If your child is 6 or older and still experiencing accidents, pelvic floor therapy may be especially helpful. Questions? We’d love to talk more. Feel free to email us: Balancedrootsnc@gmail.com.

What should we expect for our child’s first visit?
First and foremost—we prioritize comfort and connection.

  • We start with a friendly chat to learn more about your child and your family’s goals.

  • Then we assess posture, breathing, movement, and muscle tone through interactive, play-based activities.

  • If your child is ready and if it’s relevant, we may explore an external pelvic floor assessment. We do not complete internal exams on children. You’ll always be present and informed, and we use visuals to explain everything step-by-step. We do not complete this at the first visit in order to build trust and allow the child to be comfortable in our environment.

  • Afterward, we’ll talk through our findings and build a personalized plan together.

Will my child have exercises to do at home?
Yes! We believe that the real magic happens between visits.
Your therapist will give you a clear, doable home program and tweak it as needed to keep things progressing. Our goal is for your child to make big gains with as little time in the clinic as possible.

what to expect (all clients)

What’s a typical evaluation like for adults?

  1. We begin by getting to know you. That means a deep dive into your story, routines, medical history, and goals.

  2. Next comes a movement and posture assessment—and if helpful, an internal pelvic floor assessment (always with your full consent and guidance at every step).

  3. We’ll wrap up by mapping out your personalized care plan and getting you started on your healing journey.

  4. What do sessions feel like?

  5. Each session is private, one-on-one, and thoughtfully guided by your pelvic health therapist. We create a space that feels safe, affirming, and empowering—whether we’re working through symptoms or building wellness. You’ll leave each session not just feeling better, but understanding your body more deeply and confidently.

why regulation matters

Why do you include regulation in your therapy?
Your nervous system has a huge impact on pelvic health, digestion, and overall wellness. That’s why we use sensory strategies, calming movement, and breathwork to help your body feel grounded and safe. When your system is regulated, healing comes easier—and lasts longer.
